Sport in Mind ® is an independent Berkshire mental health sports charity (unaffiliated to Mind) founded in 2011. Its aim is to use sport and physical activity to help aid the recovery of people experiencing a wide range of mental health problems by promoting mental wellbeing, improving physical health and combating social isolation.
The charity provides a weekly timetable of supported sport and physical activity sessions in Berkshire for people experiencing mental health problems in the community and also those receiving inpatient care at Prospect Park Hospital. Since our inception, Sport in Mind has helped over 7,500 people and delivered in excess of 8,000 physical activity sessions across 18 different sports.
This success has generated national interest and acclaim from healthcare professionals, mental health service users and a multitude of organisations ranging from local authorities to national governing sports bodies. Our work is delivered in partnership with Berkshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust, who have supported our work fantastically since our inception as a charity in 2011.
